Steven Taylor

Steven Taylor is a qualified Accountant who has been in the Information Technology (IT) Industry since 1965. He has been a self-employed IT consultant since 1989.

After "serving his apprenticeship" in computer programming, systems analysis and IT project management, he has spent most of his career in IT Management and IT Consulting.

The latter is a multi-agency computer installation serving the SA Police, Attorney-General’s, Correctional Services and Family and Youth Services. The System has over 4,000 users and employs over 50 staff. Steven was responsible for the establishment of the System and for implementing its initial applications. It is essentially an offender tracking system for criminal justice.

Since 1989 Steven has been an IT Consultant to the SA Government. The major assignments carried out during this time have been :-

• Management of the Justice Information System
• Project Director for the Outsourcing contract between the SA Government and EDS Australia. This was a 4 year assignment covering supplier selection, due diligence, contract negotiations and the transfer of assets and staff to EDS. The contract was signed in 1995 and at that time was the largest IT Outsourcing contract in Australia with a value of $565m.
• For the last 3 years Steven has worked with the Courts Administration Authority, first on implementing the Civil Case Management System and latterly on e-Business activities such as Electronic Lodgement. He is also working with the Integrated Justice Project (IJP), which will expand the existing Justice Information System to add Courts and the Director for Public Prosecutions and will replace the remaining paper-based systems with electronic transactions.
