Stephen Foley has been involved in developing software for the legal industry for the past 20 years. He was the software developer for the following transcript management and realtime software packages: Retrieve, Transcript Analyser and T/A-Law. He also wrote the program Transcript Checker, which is used throughout Australia to check the integrity of transcripts. He has also been instrumental in helping to develop transcript standards in Australia, UK, and USA.
For the last three years Stephen has been working for LiveNote Technologies and heads up its development team in Melbourne. LiveNote is used by 70% of the top 100 law firms as their transcript management / realtime tool. In a recent “USA 2002 Best Lit Support Program” survey it won the best Transcript Management section.
Stephen is committed to XML transcript standards being put in place and at LiveNote he is currently working with a number of partners to build and test XML schemas. The good news is that both a version 1 realtime and static XML standard are near completion and the presentation today will look at the benefits this work will give to the judiciary.
