The Internet and Beyond: A New Order for Justice?
The presentation which you are about to view was given by Tony Sutherland at the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration Technology for Justice 2000 conference in Melbourne, Australia, October 2000.
The major theme of this talk is that the internet, which is the main driving force of the much heralded information revolution, will change the way everything works in our society. More particularly, it will change the way information workers, or those that work predominantly with and through information, will operate. It is important to understand that the practice of the law and the delivery of justice is principally and primarily an information activity. This is a critical issue, because one of the key determinants of the internet and information revolution is that it will drastically affect the operations of information based industries, in the same manner that the industrial revolution drastically affected those in physical and material based industries, with a consequent enormous affect on society as a whole."
