FACILITIES PROVIDED

The facility design consisted of both hardware and software components and was established using a combination of established and new technologies.

Facilities included:

  • The Courtbook Database and Image Library
    Constructed using the data collected during discovery, and accessed using the Estate Mortgage Home Page.

  • Court Document Presentation
    Documents produced by the parties were added to the electronic court record continually throughout the hearing.

    Documents could be converted from all electronic formats to the “HTML” format which was presented via the Home Page.

    Although the use of the Home Page as a presentation tool to display documents to be presented to the court was not considered in the original system requirements, its use, in part, lead to the success of the technology.

  • Public Document Image View
    Within the courtroom an operator, under instruction of the judge and counsel, controlled the display of images shown to the judge and witnesses.

    All documentation accessible from the Home Page could be displayed using the Public Document Image View.

  • Transcript Management
    Services included:
    • Supply of Realtime Transcript.
    • Supply of final copy formatted transcript in a number of electronic formats and hard copy, if required.
    • Participants could use the transcipt management application of their choice.
  • Network Infrastructure
    Was provided throughout the hearing room, the judge's chambers and the participants' workrooms, the setup designed specifically to allow the integration of public and private infrastructure.
  • Communications
    Services included:
    • Dial-in access to all "Home Page" facilities, allowing remote access and participation, and
    • E-Mail.
  • Audio / Visual Broadcast and Recording
    Services included:
    • Public address system,
    • Video display to a remote public gallery,
    • Audio & video recording of proceedings, and
    • Ability to display video recordings over the Public Image View.
